PPLS Resources - EEG/ERP
EEG/ERP Laboratory
-
The School has a state-of-the-art electroencephalogram (EEG) recording facility for event-related potential (ERP) research into the neural bases of cognition. The air-conditioned lab is equipped with a participant-friendly BioSemi system using active electrodes that minimise preparation time. Simultaneous EEG recording and eyetracking can be accomplished using an EyeLink 1000 with a desk-top camera. There are additional subject preparation and data analysis areas.
- Available for use by: PPLS staff and PhD students. Hands-on training is required, and a fee for access time is charged.
- Support: The lab is managed by Graham MacKenzie, under the direction of a committee headed by Rob McIntosh.
- Location: Dugald Stewart Building Basement
- Access: Swipe card authorised by Ken Vogel

| Simultaneous recording of eye movements & EEG can be performed with or without chin rest. | Instantaneous recording and monitoring of experimental stimuli (right monitor), eye movements (middle monitor), and EEG activity (left monitor). | Equipment is kept in a dry air-conditioned room. This room is also used for participant preparation. | Postgraduate students training in participant preparation. July 2009. |
The lab supports the use of Psychtoolbox, E-Prime, and ExperimentBuilder software for stimulus presentation. EEG analysis is mainly conducted by EEGLAB toolbox under MATLAB.
If you are interested in taking part in an EEG experiment then please check out our adverts on SAGE. We hope to see you in the lab soon!
