PPLS Resources - MRI Scanner Simulator
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner Simulator
A full size simulator of a scanner for functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). It simulates the same physical environment and the noise that are experienced when participants are in a real fMRI scanner. Stimuli can be displayed and responses recorded within the simulator, using the same software platform (E-Prime) that is used for stimulus presentation and response recording in the real fMRI scanner. A PC with E-Prime, amplifiers, and recording facilities, within the control room, plus a remote TFT screen and response buttons within the simulator controlled/monitored by the PC in the control rooms. Two-way intercome for communication with the participant in the simulator, through a headset.- Used in conjunction with the 1.5 tesla GE MRI scanner at Scottish Brain Imaging Research Centre at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh and we are developing links with the new Clinical Research Imaging Centre at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
